DRUM MASTERY 2019 - Shure drum contest

It's time for drummers to get the glory they deserve.

Drummers are foundational to a band as they are the rhythm keepers tucked away behind their kits. But playing the drums has always been about more than simply keeping the beat. It’s an attitude. A commitment. A way of life.

Shure wants to recognize the rhythm heroes and talented percussionists out there, so we’re calling on musicians from 44 countries* around the globe to enter DRUM MASTERY 2019 – The Shure Drum Contest

This competition aims to shine a spotlight on creative drumming by musicians committed to their craft. Do you have a unique playing style? Or are you simply an amazing performer? We want to show the world why you’re a master of the drums. All you have to do is submit a video of you playing solo and demonstrating your skills without any musical accompaniment.

The grand prize winner will receive a five-day trip to London plus Shure gear valued at USD ,000! During your time in the UK, you’ll experience a one-on-one drumming masterclass with Ash Soan, one of the artists judging the contest, at Metropolis Studios. You’ll also have a drum-miking workshop with a professional studio engineer to make certain your sound is as tight as your playing. You’ll then show everyone your chops live on the Shure Facebook page.

Submit your entry by April 15, 2019 and if it receives at least 50 votes online by May 6, 2019 it will be eligible for judging. Need another good reason to drum up public support? The video receiving the most votes overall (Fan Favorite) will earn the wild card spot in the final round of the contest! After the voting period closes, Shure will select one drummer from each country who will also qualify for the final round of the contest. All country winners and the Fan Favorite will receive a prize package consisting of a Shure MV88+ Video Kit and Shure SE215 Sound Isolating™ Bluetooth Earphones.

For the finals, an all-star jury made up of pro drummers from around the world – Ash Soan (UK), Taylor Gordon (US), Tobias Derer (GER), Takashi Kashikura (JPN), Shiguang Cui (CHN) – will then select the top three finishers from the 44 country winners and the Fan Favorite in early July 2019.
